Insure the Box provides telematics insurance for young drivers, new drivers, and low-mileage drivers.

Since its launch in 2010, its customers have covered 2.6 billion miles, and earned 171 million miles in bonuses for good driving.

Young drivers can find it difficult to get cheap car insurance, largely because, as a group, drivers aged under 25 have more accidents or make more claims, but telematics can cut costs as all premium prices are based on individual driver behaviour.

How telematics can help cut the cost of car insurance

Insurers see young drivers as a ‘higher risk’ group’ and push up the price of cover accordingly, but there are a few simple steps you can take to help keep costs down, even if you’re a teenager and you’ve just passed your test.

If you’re careful driver, a telematics policy offers an ideal way to cut the cost of cover, as your premium price is based on your actual driving style, and not on how other drivers in your age group perform. Some policies even offer discounts after just a few months.

Adding an older, named driver to your policy can also lower prices, as can cutting down on the number of miles you drive each month. Check out this video for more cost-cutting tips.
