a. You agree that you will be liable to us for any damage, loss, claim, demand, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) that we may suffer or incur arising out of or in connection with your conduct on the Site and/or your breach of these Terms and Conditions.

a. Our service allows you to search for and compare various types of Products from different providers. You will need to answer a number of questions on the Site in order to compare or obtain a quote for any Product. These questions are designed to ensure that we and all relevant Providers have all the information necessary to provide you with appropriate and timely information relating to the products in which you are interested. Aspects of a Product such as the level of cover (if applicable) and the amount you will pay will be determined by the answers you provide to these questions. It is therefore very important that you answer all of the questions truthfully, completely, and accurately and that you disclose all relevant facts. Failure to do so could invalidate the Product you purchase. If you are applying for an insurance product, for example, this could mean that you have no insurance cover. If your insurance product is invalid, claims may not be paid and you could be responsible for any third-party costs if any event occurs where you would otherwise have been covered by the insurance product. In order to apply for a Product, you must contact the relevant provider.

b. If you are in any doubt as to whether any information is relevant or required to be disclosed or that something may be incorrect you should disclose it to your proposed provider before you apply for a Product.

c. Before you obtain any Product from a provider, you must check all of the information, content, material, or data the provider holds about you to ensure it is correct, complete, accurate, and not misleading and that you have disclosed all relevant facts. It is your responsibility to identify and correct any mistakes or errors in the information, content, material, or data before you obtain any Product. Failure to do so could invalidate the Product.

d. You must get permission from any other person whose information you intend to provide on the Site before you provide it. In submitting any other person's details, you are confirming to us that you have their permission to do so and that they understand how their details will be used.

e. You must ensure that your User Content complies with the guidelines set out in Part 2 of these Terms and Conditions.

f. If you are in any doubt as to the suitability, adequacy, or appropriateness of any Product referred to on the Sites, we suggest that you seek independent professional advice before you obtain it.

This information will be placed onto your homepage for you to view when you next login (note that if you ran your enquiry through our App then you will need to log in to our Website in order to view the information).  These regular background comparisons will involve us re-submitting your personal information, including your supplier, tariff data, address, and energy consumption data to the energy suppliers to obtain these comparison quotes for you.  We carry out such processing based on our legitimate interest in doing so.  Please see section 6.3 of our Privacy Policy for further information on the legitimate interest basis for processing your personal information.  If you would like us to stop this processing of your personal data, please email us at: datarequest@moneysupermarket.com.

c. If you've not opted out of receiving our general marketing, you can set a savings threshold (or if you don’t then we will set a default threshold for you) and we will regularly email you or, if you are using our App, we may contact you via email, in-App messaging and/or push notification, to let you know when you could save this amount of money or more on your energy deal and, if applicable when your fixed tariff is coming to an end and the potential energy deals available to you.  This will involve the same re-processing of your personal data as described in the section above.  To turn off email communications from the Energy Monitor service, please follow the unsubscribe links included at the bottom of the emails.

d. In connection with an application to switch your energy deal, we will provide certain information, such as:

  • the MPAN and/or MPRN for your address (these are numbers used to identify the energy/gas supply points in your home and are provided to us by a third party partner so that we can match them up to the address you give us); and

  • personal information, e.g. your direct debit details, to the energy suppliers to allow them to progress your switch.

e. We will use your MPANs and/or MPRNs to receive information on the status of your switch from our third-party partner and to update you on the progress of your switch if you call our customer services team with a query.  We may also email you (or, if you are using our App, contact you via in-App messaging or push notification) with the status of your switch, including if your switch has been rejected for any reason.  Due to the information we receive, any such update on the progress of your application to switch energy suppliers will be based on the progress of your electricity switch only.  Any application to switch your gas supplier (including as part of a dual fuel switch) may not progress at the same rate as your electricity switch.  Should you have any queries in relation to the progress of your switch you may contact us at:  or contact your energy supplier directly.

f. Any use of your personal data when you switch will be subject to the energy supplier’s privacy policy and terms and conditions (which are not the responsibility of MoneySuperMarket).
