Quick and easy
It's simple to compare car insurance. Just pop in a few details about yourself, your car, and the cover you need.

By Miles offers a form of pay-as-you-go car insurance, where you pay per mile you drive. This is great for drivers that only drive a limited number of miles each year because the less you drive, the less you pay.
If you choose to take out a policy with By Miles, you’ll pay a fixed annual fee to insure your car when it’s not being driven. You’ll then only pay for the miles you actually drive.
To calculate your mileage, By Miles will send you a tracker which you’ll need to plug into your car’s dashboard to keep count of the miles you drive. For some newer cars the company can collect mileage directly from your car’s odometer. With a 5* defaqto rating, By Miles could be a smart choice for low mileage drivers.

Like most pay-as-you-go policies, By Miles provide comprehensive cover as standard. This is the highest level of cover you can get, and you'll be protected against damage, repairs, medical expenses, fire damage, and theft. As well as damage to someone else, their car or property. You’ll also get:
Protection of your no claims discount is included with every By Miles policy as standard, so your no claims discount won’t go down if you do make a claim
Capped mileage discounts, so drive as much or as little as you like, but never pay for more than 150 miles each day, or 10,000 miles a year
Keep track of your spending with the By Miles smartphone app and web dashboard, where each journey will show up as soon as you’ve parked up

MoneySuperMarket has won the Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award, an independent seal of excellence, which recognises businesses that consistently deliver a world-class customer experience.
You can cancel your By Miles insurance policy anytime by using the live chat function in your mobile phone app or via their website. You will pay for any miles driven up to the cancellation date, plus any fixed premium used. If you haven’t made a total loss of theft claim, you will receive a pro-rata refund of any unused fixed premium.
Typically, a £50 cancellation fee will be taken from the refund paid to you but this may differ depending on when you took the policy out. We recommend checking the cancellation fee shown on your policy details.
Currently, By Miles car insurance policies are underwritten by a panel of insurers, including Zurich, Covea, Mulsanne, AXA, and Wakam. By Miles is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
You can have up to a maximum of three additional named drivers on a policy and they need to meet the same criteria as policyholders. Including being between the ages of 21 and 78, holding a full UK or EU licence and being a spouse, partner or other close family member.

We get paid in different ways, depending on the type of product or service you buy through us. Our comparison service is, and will always be, free to use.
One of the best ways to get the lowest prices and best deals is to compare quotes from different companies. We do the work for you, comparing quotes side-by-side and giving you all the information you need so you can choose the right deal for your needs and your wallet.
We don’t give recommendations or financial advice, but we give you clear information so you can choose financial products that suit your circumstances.
No, not every company can be included in our service. This is because some companies don’t want their products included on comparison sites, and some decide that they would rather not pay a fee. There are also a few smaller providers who can struggle to cope with the volume of customers that can find their products if they appear on MoneySuperMarket.
Our goal is to search deals from as wide a range of companies as possible so that you can choose the deal that suits you.
