As one of Britain‘s most successful building societies, with 1.9million members, Yorkshire Building Society now offers a number of products and services such as home insurance (also known as house insurance’ or ‘household insurance’). It acts as an intermediary with policies underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance PLC.

Yorkshire Building Society provides both home contents insurance and buildings insurance. Independent financial research company Defaqto awarded the company five stars for the standard of its cover and there are numerous benefits available including the ability to mix and match between buildings, contents, accidental damage cover, pedal cycles, legal expenses and cover for personal belongings and money. You could also get 50% off your home contents insurance when you take out a combined buildings and contents policy as long as you apply before November 16, 2008.

The company offers a number of additional discounts including 15% off for four years’ no-claims and a 10% discount if you’ve professionally installed and maintained an intruder alarm. Yorkshire Building Society home insurance includes a high level of standard cover with up to £400,000 for buildings and £50,000 for contents.

There is cover available for alternative accommodation, home office equipment and home emergency assistance. In addition, there is an automatic increase of £1,000 each Christmas at no extra cost and an increase in cover for wedding gifts.
