Saga provides insurance policies aimed at people aged over 50. It believes that by targeting this group, who traditionally make fewer claims than those under 50, it can pass the savings on to the consumer, offering them a cheaper and more specialised policy.

Among Saga‘s products is home insurance (also known as ‘house insurance’ or ‘household insurance’). As an incentive, Saga home insurance includes occasional special discounts. For example, at the time of publication, Saga offered an online discount of up to one third off your first year’s premium consisting of a 10% introductory discount, a 5% combined discount for taking out building and contents cover together and up to a 22% online discount. It is also offering the chance to win free home energy for a year as part of a weekly prize draw.

Saga home insurance provides buildings insurance up to £500,000 and contents cover up to £50,000 as standard. Its premiums, for both buildings and contents insurance, are based on your individual home and possessions with a choice of excess levels. There is also new-for-old cover meaning that you will receive a new item if the old one cannot be repaired.

The company offers a number of additional cover options including personal belongings in and away from the home up to £5,000, legal expenses cover, personal money and credit cards cover and identity theft cover.
