Marks & Spencer is a respected brand name famed for its range of clothing products and groceries. In 2004 the company sold M&S Money to HSBC, one of the world’s largest banks, and the brand’s range of products includes home insurance (also known as ‘house insurance’ or ‘household insurance’).

Marks & Spencer offers a combined home and contents insurance policy that comes in different degrees – premier cover and standard cover. The premier cover aims to bring ‘total peace of mind’ with protection against theft and damage including students` possessions, dependent relatives` possessions and accidents. It has received a five-star rating from Defaqto.

The standard home insurance cover still has a number of safeguards at a more affordable price. This includes protection against theft and loss as well as accidental damage to items such as TVs, videos and computer equipment. Also you can protect your no claims discount as long as you only make one claim every four years.

Furthermore, the company has additional options available including contents away from home cover, which covers belongings worldwide, home emergency cover and legal expenses cover, which is worth up to £50,000. There is a 10% discount for taking out a policy online.
