Established as a high-street giant with 145 stores across the UK and Ireland and a sought-after range of clothing, electrical and furniture goods, Debenhams has expanded its brand even further by offering insurance products such as home insurance (also known as ‘house insurance’ or ‘household insurance’).

The company claims it can offer great value by searching for the best deals across 12 approved insurers including Legal & General, Norwich Union and AXA and there is a 5% discount when you buy online. It’s not just about price however, as Debenhams also aims to provide comprehensive cover across its contents insurance, buildings insurance and combined policies.

Among the incentives of Debenhams home insurance is that it offers a free increase in contents cover over the Christmas period, as well as cover for your child when he or she moves to university. There is cover for possessions anywhere in the world, garden cover up to £2,000 and up to 18% no-claims discount.

Optional extras include accidental damage cover and family legal protection worth up to £50,000. The company also offers a 24hr emergency hotline with UK-only call centres.
