Admiral was launched in 1993 with the aim of offering lower premiums to more people. It has since established itself as one of the leading UK car insurance companies with its aim to provide a service for more than just those who are traditionally seen as safer drivers, and it specialises in providing low cost car insurance (also known as ‘Admiral motor insurance’) for young drivers, people living in cities, those driving performance cars and even those with points on their license.
There are a number of benefits with an Admiral car insurance policy. Some of the key aspects of the company’s cover include a free guaranteed courtesy car if your vehicle is repaired at an Admiral approved-repairer, no-claims discount for named drivers and up to £100,000 of legal expenses cover.
Additionally, Admiral car insurance offers a ‘bonus match’ policy. This is where you can bring a second car to the insurer and it will, in most cases, match your no-claims bonus on that vehicle as well. Admiral also operates a ‘bonus accelerator’ which allows you to earn a year’s worth of no-claims bonus in 10 months.
Optional extras with Admiral car insurance include the national service network – a network of garages that have to meet clearly outlined standards; and instalment payment protection, which provides a back-up for your car insurance payments if you suffer from an accident, illness or unemployment.
