Availability and price
The iPhone 11 Pro Max, along with the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, started shipping on 20 September 2019.
You can get this top-end handset for the premium price of £1,149, £50 more than the iPhone 11 Pro (£1,099) and over £400 more than the iPhone 11 (£729).
Design
The iPhone 11 Pro Max, like the other handsets in the range, has an all-screen display only making way for a small notch at the top. The Pro and Pro Max both sport a stainless steel frame, instead of the 11’s aluminium, while all three get a glass back and a new square block in the upper left corner containing the cameras.
The phones are available in purple, white, black, green, yellow and red.
Being the premium phone in the range, the iPhone 11 Pro Max predictably has the biggest screen at 6.5 inches. It also sports an OLED display with a resolution of 1,242 x 2,688, while its maximum brightness measures at 1,200 nits – and Apple says the glass screen is the toughest found in any smartphone available.
The biggest screen also makes the heaviest phone – it weighs 226g, and its total dimensions are 158mm x 77.8mm x 8.1mm.
Camera
Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max has three lenses making up its rear camera setup:
- One f/1.8 12MP lens
- One f/2.4 ultrawide 12MP lens
- One f/2.0 telephoto 12MP lens with 2x optical zoom
The front camera on the Pro Max is also 12MP, and contains Apple’s improved Face ID facial recognition system.
Specs
The iPhone 11 Pro Max houses a 3,969 mAh battery that, according to Apple, lasts up to five hours longer than the battery in the iPhone XS Max.
The phone also uses Apple’s next-gen A13 bionic chipset – the tech giant says this has the fastest CPU and GPU of any smartphone.
The Pro Max and the Pro both come with the following storage options:
- 64GB storage and 4GB RAM
- 256GB storage and 4GB RAM
- 512GB storage and 4GB RAM
