Features and specs
The iPhone 15 Pro is Apple’s top-of-the-line iPhone for 2023, along with the large screen iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It comes with iOS 17 as standard, an A17 Pro chipset, a new souped up triple lens camera with Photonic Engine smarts, battery life up to 23 hours for video and 75 hours for audio, and a 6.1-inch screen, replete with Dynamic Island, for accessing key notifications and other content at a glance while using the display.
There’s also a clever new ‘action button’ in place of the old mute switch, and an updated lightweight titanium design. In a major move for Apple, it uses USB-C instead of Lightning for charging for the first time.
Availability and price
The iPhone 15 Pro was revealed by Apple on 12th September 2023. It cost £999 for a 128GB SIM free model, rising to £1,099 for 256GB, £1,299 for 512GB and £1,499 for 1TB.
Preorders open on 15th September, with a full release on 22nd September.
Its price is not due to fall until late 2024, but you can secure great deals on 2022’s models, including the iPhone 14 Pro here at MoneySuperMarket.
How good is the iPhone 15 Pro's design and display?
The iPhone 15 Pro is Apple’s best smartphone as of 2023. It comes with a striking, bright 6.1-inch display that packs a 2,000 nits brightness rating when being used outdoors. Once again, the Dynamic Island feature is in evidence, meaning the old school notch is gone for good and interacting with notifications is easier than ever. Resolution clocks in at 1179 x 2556 pixels.
The design is a proper standout, with a new titanium exterior making it much lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro. The interior is now made of aluminium, which Apple says will make it easier to repair.
Perhaps the biggest shift is the inclusion of the new action button. This replaces the old-style mute switch and uses Haptic Feedback alongside the Dynamic Island to let you turn your phone to silent, access the camera or voice memos, and switch on the torch.
How good is the iPhone 15 Pro's camera?
The iPhone 15 Pro has a cutting edge triple lens camera. The main lens clocks in at 48MP, backed up by two 12MP options that feature up to 3x optical zoom and boosted night mode smarts. Apple says detail is much greater compared with the previous iPhone 14 Pro, while the iPhone 15 Pro comes with seven pro lens options, allowing you to take incredible photos.
It shoots in RAW and HEIF modes, while you can even switch between three different focal lengths to vary your images.
In short, this marks a major jump from the iPhone 14 Pro and promises to give impressive cameras from Google and Samsung a run for their money.
Is the iPhone 15 Pro good for video?
The iPhone 15 Pro is a video powerhouse, thanks to its A17 Pro chip and beautiful 6.1-inch screen. It’s ideal for long Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube sessions, whether you’re at home or on the move.
In terms of shooting video, it has the power to shoot in 4K at 24 frames per second and ProRes recording at 60 frames per second. So if you love to create clips for YouTube or TikTok, or host high-quality livestreams, it’s got you covered.
What are the key differences between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro?
The iPhone 15 Pro stands out from the iPhone 14 Pro in a few key areas. These include:
Newer A17 Pro chipset
More powerful camera with seven pro lenses
Lightweight titanium design
Action button takes mute button to next level
Slightly cheaper
How does the iPhone 15 Pro compare to flagship handsets in the UK?
The iPhone 15 Pro is perhaps the best flagship phone available in the UK as of 2023. Only the excellent Samsung Galaxy S23 Pro can really match it when it comes to processing power, screen smarts and imaging prowess. Really it all comes down to whether you prefer the iOS or Android ecosystem.
MoneySuperMarket's expert rating: 5/5
The iPhone 15 Pro is nothing short of incredible. From its design to its camera, its striking display to its processing power, it’s a colossus of a phone built for gaming, streaming and everything in between.
The only quibble is the expense, which is true of all top-end handsets. An initial outlay of £1,000 is a lot, so taking out a contract for an iPhone 15 Pro is unquestionably the best course of action unless you have a lot of cash to hand.
Contract options
Can I get the iPhone 15 Pro with no upfront cost?
The iPhone 15 Pro may be available with no upfront cost – to see if these plans are currently offered, adjust the filter above and take a look and what’s available from the retailers we work with.
Just keep in mind that paying nothing up front pushes up the monthly cost of the phone, especially if you opt for a lot of data.
Can I get the iPhone 15 Pro with unlimited data?
Yes, you can get the iPhone 15 Pro with unlimited data from almost all networks that offer it. This will make plans more expensive but will mean you can stream and game as much as you like. Use our search tool to toggle to unlimited data to see what plans you can get.
What's the cheapest way to get the iPhone 15 Pro?
It depends. A contract is likely to be cheaper if you don’t have the funds to pay for an iPhone 15 Pro up front. If you can afford to pay outright for an iPhone 15 Pro then you can pair it with a SIM-only plan and pay far less each month for your calls, texts and data – which often equates to a lower overall cost.
Can I get the iPhone 15 Pro with poor credit?
Buying an iPhone 15 Pro with poor credit is tricky, as you’ll need to pass a credit check for a long term contract. The best option may be a 30-day SIM-only deal and buying an iPhone 15 Pro outright.
Will the iPhone 15 Pro drop in price?
The iPhone 15 Pro will drop in price when a new iPhone lineup is launched in autumn 2024. Until then, prices will likely stay the same.
Is now a good time to buy the iPhone 15 Pro?
If you want the best phone around as of 2023, then the iPhone 15 Pro is worth buying now, as prices won’t slide until late 2024. However, the iPhone 14 Pro remains an incredible device and has dropped significantly in price thanks to the iPhone 15 Pro’s launch.
