Low-cost, SIM-only deals with no complications – that’s Talkmobile’s bread and butter. Compare its plans with our comparison table above, or keep reading to find out more about what the network has to offer.
Talkmobile SIM-only deals
SIM-only deals are what Talkmobile does best.
The network offers a small range of plans, with data allowances ranging from 1GB to 250GB per month. There are no unlimited data plans, sadly, but they do all come with unlimited calls and texts.
You can pick between a 30-day or 12-month plan – though different data allowances are available depending on which contract length you choose.
Why choose a Talkmobile SIM?
There are a few advantages to choosing Talkmobile:
- It’s competitively priced
- It’s one of the cheapest ways to get 5G
- You can choose a 30-day plan, so you can change your allowance or switch network whenever you like
- Its plans are simple and straightforward – it’s easy to find the deal you want
- No credit checks – Talkmobile only performs a basic ID check
Is Talkmobile a good network?
If what you want is a low-cost SIM with no fuss, then yes, Talkmobile is a good network.
It’s lacking a few things in terms of features and extras – that is to say, there aren’t any – but that’s fine if all you want is a hassle-free SIM card.
In terms of the network quality itself, it’s definitely good. Talkmobile piggybacks on Vodafone, which is known for its reliability. Calls are less likely to drop, and its mobile internet signal is usually strong. There’s great coverage too, reaching more than 99% of the population.
Don’t forget you can also get 5G, though it’s a little limited compared to some networks.
What to look for in a Talkmobile SIM contract
Bear in mind that there are different data allowances available depending on what contract length you choose. So it might be best to choose whether you want a 30-day or 12-month plan first.
Either way, prices are reasonable.
In fact, because it’s such a fuss-free network, all you really need to decide is contract length, data allowance, and cost. Everything else will be the same no matter what plan you choose.
Cheap Talkmobile SIMs
All Talkmobile SIMs are priced on the cheap side. At the time of writing, the cheapest available is just £5.95 per month.
Its 12-month plans are generally cheaper than 30-day ones, by a couple of quid per month.
Plus, look out for exclusive MoneySuperMarket deals from Talkmobile that give you even better prices. You’ll find them with our comparison tool every now and then…
12-month Talkmobile SIMs
Talkmobile offers a small collection of 12-month SIM plans. You have a choice of data allowances – and in fact, its highest allowances (up to 100GB) are only available on a 12-month basis.
All have unlimited calls and texts too, as well as 5G connectivity.

Can I use my Talkmobile SIM abroad?
Unfortunately, Talkmobile no longer offers inclusive EU roaming. Its mobile roaming policy is now a little complex, as it has split countries into seven different zones: each one with their own price plans.
Roaming in Zone 0 is included in all UK plans (subject to a fair use policy of 15GB per month). Countries include: Iceland, Ukraine, Isle of Man, Norway and the Republic of Ireland.
Most countries in Europe fall under Zone 1, 2 and 3. To use your phone plan as normal in these locations, you'll need to pay for a 'Euro Holiday Booster' – these are available on a one-day, eight-day and 15-day basis.
International roaming options are even more limited. If you're travelling to destinations outside Europe (Zone 4 and beyond), you'll have to pay for every call, text and MB of data used.
Can I get 5G-enabled Talkmobile SIMs?
Yes. All Talkmobile SIMs are now 5G-ready. To take advantage of those fast mobile broadband speeds, you’ll just need a 5G-enabled phone and be in an area where Vodafone’s 5G network can reach.
Can I keep my mobile number if I switch to a Talkmobile SIM-only deal?
Yes, you can. You’ll need to get a PAC (porting authorisation code) when you cancel your mobile deal with your current network, which you can then pass on to Talkmobile when you sign up.
Our guide to transferring your phone number goes into more detail.
Do I need an unlocked phone to use a Talkmobile SIM?
Yes, you do. Luckily, all phones bought outright are sold unlocked, and most phones bought through another network in the last couple of years are unlocked too.
If your smartphone is older than that and locked to a network, that’s okay – it’s free and easy to get it unlocked. Just contact the network it’s locked to and they’ll talk you through the process.
Then you’re free to use a Talkmobile SIM in your phone.
Are Talkmobile SIM-only deals cheaper than contract plans?
Generally speaking, yes. It almost always works out cheaper overall to buy a phone and take out a SIM-only plan compared to taking out a contract deal.
That’s especially true when you choose a low-cost network like Talkmobile.
However, if you have a phone in mind, it’s always a good idea to compare mobile contract deals and compare SIM-only deals, and see which options works out cheaper for you.
