Availability and price
The Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro were released in March 2018. Handset prices are around £330 for new or £150 for a used or refurbished model. It’s available on contract deals with a free case and screen protector through MoneySuperMarket.
Design
The Huawei P20 Pro’s 6.1 inch AMOLED display makes it larger than the Huawei P20 and its dual-glass design is reinforced with a metal frame to give a thickness of 7.65mm.
Both the P20 and P20 Pro feature 1080p, 18.7:9 aspect ratio displays with a notched tab at the top-centre. A fingerprint reader on the front can also be used for navigation.
The P20 is available in the popular Twilight colour, as well as Black, Ping Gold, Midnight Blue and Champagne Gold.
Camera
The Huawei P20 Pro possesses a triple rear camera with a 40-megapixel wide-angle IMX600 sensor, and an 8-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zoom.
On the front selfie cam, it has a 24-megapixel monochrome sensor to help improve image quality with 2D face unlock.
Advanced functionality allows it to improve image quality and brightness in low-light environments, and it also uses AI technologies for stabilisation and image enhancement.
Its variable aperture sets the camera up to shoot long-exposure without a tripod, and focus and lighting can be optimised when editing. Video capture is 4K with 720@960 frames per second for slow-motion.
Specs
Powered by a Kirin 970 chipset octa-core processor, the Huawei P20 Pro runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.
It has 128 GB of non-expandable internal storage, with 6GB of RAM, up from 4GB for the P20 model. It can be unlocked through the front-facing fingerprint reader in just 0.4 seconds.
The Huawei P20 Pro is powered by a sealed 4,000mAh battery. It supports Huawei's proprietary Super Charge with a 22.5W adapter, but it doesn’t offer wireless charging.
Connectivity comes from its Dual SIM, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and USB Type-C.
