It might mean deals that refund you part of your payment. These are generally available solely through specialist cashback sites and require you to claim the money you’re owed at pre-determined point in time of your contract. It’ll be paid directly into your bank account.

*Average speeds are based on the download speeds of at least 50% of customers at peak time (8pm to 10pm). Speed can be affected by a range of technical and environmental factors. The speed you receive where you live may be lower than that listed above. You can check the estimated speed to your property prior to purchasing.
Fibre/cable services at your postcode are subject to availability. You can confirm availability on the provider's website.
Some broadband providers may increase monthly prices each year during your contract. Please refer to individual broadband provider's terms and conditions before signing up.
How to find broadband with cashback or rewards
When broadband providers offer rewards or cashback, we’ll be sure to flag the offer in our comparison tables.
All you need to do to find the deals with rewards that are available in your area is type your postcode into our availability checker.
Found a reward that appeals to you? Good news. But it’s vital that you act quickly and sign up.
Providers typically only run rewards promotions for a limited period, after which point the offer is withdrawn. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
One other critical thing to note is that providers reserve rewards for new customers. So if you’re determined to get a reward when you sign up, you’ll have to switch provider.
What is a cashback broadband deal?
The term ‘cashback’ in a broadband deal may refer to slightly different things.
-
-
More loosely the term ‘cashback deals’ is used for deals that include a reward, such as a voucher for Amazon or high-street retailers. Deals with rewards are much easier to come by than deals that refund some of your payments and are easy to find on price comparison sites, such as MoneySuperMarket.
How do I claim cashback rewards from broadband providers?
The claiming process for rewards differs between providers. But generally you’re required to submit a claim via an online form.
Most providers enforce time restrictions on claims and only let you submit your claim after a set time has elapsed (sometimes 30 days, sometimes as long as 90 days) from when you first signed up for your contract.
Upon processing your claim, your reward will be sent to the email account or home address you signed up with. If it’s a cheque, it will be made out to the broadband account holder.
Which broadband providers offer cashback rewards?
You’re most likely to get a cashback broadband deal from one of the household-name providers, such as BT, Sky broadband, TalkTalk, Plusnet, Virgin Media, Vodafone and EE.
Unfortunately, the lesser-known providers or those that only operate in specific areas, such as Kcom are much less likely to offer you a reward for a signing up.
You may also find that switching to a new deal with your current provider doesn't give you access to cashback deals and rewards - they're usually only available for new customers.
How to compare and switch broadband
There are three simple steps to compare broadband deals and switch providers
-
Check you're out of contract
Ensure you're no longer within the minimum terms of the contract length with your current broadband provider. You can find out by looking at your original contract, confirmation email, or by contacting their customer service.
-
Enter your postcode and choose a personalised bundle
We algorithmically sort broadband packages based on your location, the speed you'd get, and how much it costs.
-
Complete your switch
Your new provider should contact your current provider and arrange the switch for you. And you'll receive letters and emails updating you on this.
How to get a better broadband deal
Whether you're looking for cheap and cheerful or high-spec full fibre broadband, everyone's needs are different. Finding the best deal for you starts with understanding how you plan to use it or if bundling your services lower your monthly bill.
-
Are you still within your contract?
If you're still in your minimum term, you'd be subject to an early repayment charge if you ended your contract early.
If you're out of contract or approaching the end, you can switch without penality.
-
Can you get a better deal for the same price?
A tariff may offer everything you're looking for, but does it come to the right monthly price and offer good value for money? Shop around to find the right tariff at the best possible price.
-
Can you get any bundles, freebies, or cashback?
Many providers offer tempting incentives, such as cashback or gift cards to new customers. These may help bring down the cost of an expensive broadband deal, although you should also consider whether these gifts are as important as factors such as speed and cost.

Broadband explained
What types of rewards are available with broadband deals?
Although less common than reward cards, bill credit, and vouchers, broadband providers sometimes sweeten their deals with free gadgets and electronic equipment. These may include headphones, Bluetooth speakers and tablets.
Sometimes you may even get a free TV or games console. But as you’d expect, these are generally reserved for the priciest pay-TV and fast-broadband packages from providers such as Virgin Media.
BT has sometimes sweetened its broadband deals with free cases of wine or hampers. That’s a nice gift, but do you really want to commit to a long-term contract to get it?
Are cashback broadband deals worth it?
That depends on your circumstances. If you’re going to make use of the voucher on offer and it’s for a store or site that you usually shop at, it’s well worth signing up for a deal with a cashback reward. Likewise, if claiming cash or bill credit makes the deal better value and means you save money overall, it's worth considering.
However, your chief criterion for choosing a deal should always be if it’s fast enough to suit your needs. If it’s not, we’d say leave it and choose a provider/deal with the speed you require.
Bear in mind, too, that most of the best deals - whether that means cashback, bill credit, free gifts, or just a great monthly price - are only available to new customers.
