Although it’s a completely new model of iPhone, the iPhone 14 Plus is not too different from the previous year’s iPhone 13 – just in a bigger package for better viewing.
You get the same powerful A15 bionic chip, as well as the same design, Super Retina XDR OLED display and dual camera system.
Nevertheless, Apple has refined some features, such as improved low-light photography. And there are some new safety features worth noting: Crash Detection, which detects if you’ve been in a crash and contacts emergency services, and Emergency SOS via satellite, which will connect you to emergency services via text even if you have no signal.
How good is the iPhone 14 Plus Camera?
Like the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus retains the dual camera system as the previous iPhone 13: one main 12MP lens and one 12MP ultra-wide.
Nevertheless, there are some improvements under the hood. A larger sensor with larger pixels produces brighter images with less noise. Not to mention, Apple’s Photonic Engine computational photography software means better low-light performance, capturing more detail in challenging shooting conditions.
For better selfies, the new TrueDepth front camera comes with a wider f/1.9 aperture and autofocus.
There’s also a new Action mode for video, which stabilises shaky handheld videos.
How good is the iPhone 14 Plus Design?
Compared to last year’s design, the iPhone 14 Plus looks pretty much the same. It keeps the dual diagonal camera array on the back, as well as the same notch size on the front.
It has the same Ceramic Shield front, glossy glass back and aluminium wraparound frame. Really, the only discernible difference is the size: the iPhone 14 Plus combines the design of the regular iPhone with the larger size of the Pro Max.
It comes in five colourways: Blue, Purple, Midnight (black), Starlight (white) and Product Red.
How good is the iPhone 14 Plus Display?
The display is the main thing that sets apart the iPhone 14 Plus from its smaller counterpart. Boasting a large 6.7-inch screen, it’s the same size as the Pro Max – but still sporting Apple’s signature camera notch, rather than the new pill-shaped cut-out found on the Pro models.
If you want a sizeable screen but don’t require the power of the Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Plus is the one for you.
It features OLED technology, meaning colours and contrast are beautifully vivid and true to life. True Tone adjusts screen brightness to ambient light, making the display easier on the eyes.
How good is the iPhone 14 Plus Battery life?
Thanks to its bigger size, the iPhone 14 Plus packs a 3240mAh battery for what Apple claims to be “the best battery life on iPhone”.
It’s rated for up to 26 hours of video playback, 20 hours of streamed video and 100 hours of audio playback.
Charging still isn’t the quickest, with the iPhone 14 Plus getting to 50% in half an hour with 20W ‘fast’ charging.

MoneySuperMarket's expert rating
Our rating out of five: 4/5
Although it’s a very good smartphone, the iPhone 14 Plus doesn’t have any particularly noteworthy features that make it stand out from the rest of the range. And, to be fair, that’s not its purpose. Rather, it provides the reliable and solid performance of the base iPhone 14, with a larger screen for easier viewing.
If you’re happy with the features and specs of the regular iPhone model, but want a big screen for watching videos and scrolling through feeds, the iPhone 14 Plus is a welcome addition to Apple’s line-up.
iPhone 14 Plus contract options
If you want to get a mobile phone contract, rather than buying the device outright, there are several ways you can get a good deal.
Can I get the iPhone 14 Plus with no upfront cost?
Most likely, yes. A number of networks offer phone contracts with no upfront cost, and the iPhone 14 Plus is no exception.
However, the deals themselves change pretty frequently. So the best way to find the ones with nothing to pay upfront is by comparing deals.
Just set the slider in the filters above to only show deals with no upfront costs.
Can I get the iPhone 14 Plus with unlimited data?

You can find an unlimited data deal on the iPhone 14 Plus by comparing deals here. Just move the slider above to unlimited (or very high) data to see all your options.
What’s the cheapest way to get the iPhone 14 Plus?
The cheapest way to get the iPhone 14 Plus is to buy the handset outright and off-contract, and then get a SIM-only deal. But that’s a lot of cash to pay in one go.
Rather spread your costs over a year or two? For the cheapest iPhone 14 Plus contract deals, just set the filters above to show what you want from your plan, and sort by cost.
To keep costs down, look out for:
- Deals from resellers, such as Carphone Warehouse or Fonehouse
- Deals from lower-cost networks
- Deals with lower data allowances
- Deals on refurbished handsets
Can I get the iPhone 14 Plus with poor credit?
It may be difficult. Networks always run credit checks on mobile contract deals – and since it’s a pricey flagship phone, credit checks for the iPhone 14 Plus will be stricter.
Your best bet is to buy it outright and get a SIM-only deal, which very rarely requires a credit check.
