What’s included with Sky Superfast broadband?
All Sky Superfast broadband packages come with a Sky Broadband Hub for free. This is Sky’s best ever router, with smart channel selection, four gigabit ethernet ports, eight antennae and the ability to connect as many as 64 devices. Ideal for those who run a smart home with lots of Wi-Fi powered devices.
Packages also come with Sky’s Wall to Wall Wi-Fi Guarantee, which promises at least 3Mbps in every room. You can also choose to pay for Sky Broadband Boost. This monthly extra comes with Wi-Fi Guarantee, as well as the chance to get engineers to visit in the evening or at weekends and extra data if you’re a Sky Mobile customer.
Sky Superfast broadband customers can also make use of the Sky Broadband Buddy app, which lets you create filters for what each connected device can see and set screen limit times.
Where is Sky Superfast available?
Because Sky Superfast broadband is a fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) service, it can be found across almost the entire UK. That’s because it uses Openreach’s copper wiring to complete the journey into the home.
Only the most rural areas are unlikely to be able to access Sky Superfast. To be sure you can get it where you live, make use of the MoneySuperMarket broadband postcode checker.
Do I need a phone line for Sky Superfast?
Yes. Because Sky Superfast broadband uses Openreach’s network, you need a phone line in order to connect to the internet. This is because Sky Superfast is a FTTC service, rather than a FTTP one, which runs fibre cables straight into the home.
If you don’t have a phone line, Sky will be able to help get you connected, although you may need to pay a fee.
Download limits
Sky Superfast does not come with download limits, so you can download, stream and use the web as much as you like.
How fast is Sky Superfast?
Sky Superfast broadband is available in two speeds. Superfast 35 tops out at 35Mbps on average, while its Superfast Broadband comes in at 59Mbps. Both are significantly faster than ADSL broadband.
What type of broadband is Sky Superfast?
Sky Superfast is a fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) service. That means it uses fibre cables to reach the nearest street cabinet to your home, before completing the journey via Openreach’s copper wiring.
Therefore speeds are faster than a basic ADSL service, but slower than FTTP offerings like Sky Ultrafast, which run fibre cables right into the home.
