Samsung’s large-sized 2024 handset was unveiled in January 2024, revealing the manufacturer’s best display to date and some impressive AI smarts.

Availability and price
The Samsung Galaxy S24+ was announced on 17th January 2024, available to pre-order immediately ahead of a full release on 25th January 2024.
It arrived alongside the regular Samsung Galaxy S24, and the high-powered S24 Ultra.
At launch, pricing started at £999 when bought outright – though contract plans can spread that cost out.
How good is the Samsung Galaxy S24+ design and display?
The display on the S24+ is as beautiful as can be expected from a Galaxy S phone – crisp, bright, and a nice large size.
It’s been taken one step further from previous models, however, as it’s Samsung’s first range of phones to have a QHD-resolution display. That means you’re looking at 1440 x 3120 pixels, where the S23+ was a 1080p affair. It’s also the brightest yet, achieving a blinding 2600 nits – perfect for sunny days.
Because this is the plus model, the screen is nice and big too, sitting at 6.7 inches – about half an inch bigger than the regular S24.
The overall design of the phone is much the same as the rest of the line. The screen takes up the entire front of the handset, with a pinhole at the top for the camera, and the edges and corners are smoothly rounded. It’s pleasant to hold in the hand.
As for colours, you can choose between black, grey, violet, or yellow, plus the extra choices of blue, green, or orange if you order directly from Samsung.
How good is the Samsung Galaxy S24+ camera?
The S24+ camera is very good. At launch, it’s top of the range, as we can expect from a Samsung flagship.
The lenses themselves have the same specs as the previous S23+: a 50MP main camera for taking huge, detailed shots; a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom; and a 120-degree ultrawide lens. On the front, you also get a 12MP selfie camera.
What’s new is that you get some clever AI-powered editing features. We’re talking smarts that can extend the edges of your photo, or help you snip an element out of shot – and even paste it elsewhere if you like.
Is the Samsung Galaxy S24+ good for video?
The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is excellent for video – among the best on the market as of 2024. It’s definitely eclipsed here by the highest-level models like the S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but calling it capable is an understatement.
It can shoot in up to an astounding 8K – or if you’re recording in regular HD (1080p), you can take advantage of its mega slow motion mode with 960fps to get some really detailed clips.
And because it’s a 6.7-inch handset, you have plenty of screen space to edit your vids.
What are the key differences between the Samsung Galaxy S24+ and the Samsung Galaxy S23+?
The headline upgrade from the old Samsung Galaxy S23+ is that the S24+ comes equipped with some extra AI capabilities, particularly on the camera software.
The display is also a significantly higher resolution – QHD compared to HD previously.
Samsung have also upped the RAM to 12GB, so it should be able to handle more high-powered processes than ever.
How does the Samsung Galaxy S24+ compare to other flagship handsets in the UK?
The closest equivalent to the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is the iPhone 15 Plus – another large-sized, top-drawer smartphone released just a few months before the S24+.
They both host the same size screens, and offer many similar features. The S24 has a slightly higher resolution, however, and an additional camera lens on the back.
The other key difference is of course that the S24+ uses Android rather than iOS. If you’re deciding between the two phones, it may simply come down to your preferred platform.
MoneySuperMarket’s expert rating: 4.5/5
The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones released on the 2024 market – though not quite at the level of the impressive S24 Ultra model.

For cheaper deals, look out for smaller networks, lower allowances, and even refurbished models.
Can I get the Samsung Galaxy S24+ with poor credit?

Is now a good time to buy the Samsung Galaxy S24+?
The S24+ had an early 2024 release, and its tech should be futureproof for some time, with support from Samsung for at least five years. Bear that in mind if you’re considering getting the S24+ today.
Will the Samsung Galaxy S24+ drop in price?
Samsung Galaxy S models tend to drop in price when new ones are released. Look out early in the year – Samsung’s big launch event is usually in January or February.
