Compare Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra contracts

You can pick up the Galaxy S24 Ultra from most household-name networks, such as O2 and Three, as well as less well known carriers who’ll typically come in a bit cheaper.

You’ll find our best Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra deals in the table above. To get the right contract for your needs, use the filters to select the data allowance and price that suits you.

Although not much has changed from the S23 Ultra when it comes to design, close inspection reveals that the S24 Ultra is a worthy upgrade from 2023’s flagship.

Notable improvements include a more robust titanium frame, a brighter screen and a more powerful processor.

But perhaps most impressive is the array of Artificial Intelligence technology that’s onboard, including Live Translate, for bilingual phone conversations in real time, and Transcript Assist that creates summaries of audio recordings and transcribes for you.

Availability and price

Samsung lifted the lid on the S24 Ultra on 18th January 2024, alongside the standard Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus.

SIM-free prices for the Ultra at launch started at £1,249 (256GB).

How good is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s design and display?

Samsung flagship phones boast some of the best displays around. The S24 Ultra, which features the brightest screen on any Galaxy smartphone, is no exception.

It’s capable 2,600 nits of brightness, compared with 1,750 nits for the S23 Ultra. And outdoor visibility is better, thanks to the enhanced Vision Booster feature.

The design has been revamped too. With a flatter display and smaller bezels, making for a very striking handset.

The addition of a titanium frame means the S24 Galaxy Ultra is harder wearing, but actually feels lighter in the hand.

How good is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera?

In a nutshell, very good. In 2023, the S23 Ultra was generally rated as the best cameraphone on the market. And the S24 Ultra retains its key features, while adding some welcome enhancements.

Its array of cameras takes in a 200-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, a 50-megapixel periscope lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens.

That’s broadly in line with S23 Ultra, with the key change being Samsung’s decision to swap the S23 Ultra’s 10x telephoto camera for a 50-megapixel optical-zoom periscope lens.

However, the really noteworthy improvements come with the addition of AI technology. To help you get better shots, the S24 Ultra will suggest edits and will automatically edit out glare, shadows and reflections that can really spoil an otherwise clean snap.

What's more, the Generative Edit function means you can also easily rearrange the composition of images, by moving components with simple taps and swipes. Thus eliminating the need for any advanced photo-editing expertise.

Is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra good for video?

Videos shot with the S24 Ultra are crisp and bright. And as you’d expect, look especially good when you shoot in the 8K mode.

The really unique feature for mini movies, though, is the AI-powered Instant Slo-Mo mode. This transforms standard-speed videos into professional-grade slow-motion clips – irrespective of whether it was originally shot in slo-mo. And the really clever thing? To do so it actually creates frames that you never shot.

What are the key differences between the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S23 Ultra?

Appearances can be deceptive. Although at first glance the two Ultra models look alike, the S24 Ultra features a number of under-the-bonnet improvements that make for a pretty significant upgrade. These include:

  • Better camera: Although the lens array is fairly similar, the S24 Ultra features more AI technology that helps less experienced photographers get better results with no need for specialist knowledge
  • AI features: Live Translate is new to this year’s model and translates phone conversations in real time. Just as impressive is Circle to Search, which lets you tap on items on your screen to find out more about them
  • Enhanced screen: The S24 Ultra’s screen is the same size as the S23 Ultra. But it’s much brighter and performs much better in bright light.

How does the Galaxy S24 Ultra compare to flagship handsets in the UK?

The S24 Ultra is priced broadly in line with its closest rival, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. But arguably outdoes Apple’s 2023 top-of-the-range model in the camera and screen departments.

You’ll find a few of the S24 Ultra’s AI camera features on the Google Pixel 8 Pro, which is significantly cheaper and is also highly rated as a cameraphone.

But with the likes of Circle to Search and Live Translate, Samsung’s handset takes AI-augmented smartphones to brand-new heights.

MoneySuperMarket's expert rating

Our rating 5/5

We’ve long become used to highly touted, ‘new’ smartphones that really feel like minor upgrades from existing models. And while Samsung’s S24 Ultra can't truly be said to be a brave new frontier in phone technology, it feels like the first smartphone to really take advantage of what AI tech has got to offer. For that reason, it’s a real breath of fresh air.

The camera is excellent. The screen is wonderfully sharp and fantastic for watching movies on the go. And the brawny processor means it operates speedily. Which is handy because all the new AI features require a lot of power.

It’s these that are the phone’s standout selling points. The Circle to Search function, which lets you draw a ring around objects onscreen to find out more about them, is genuinely handy. And Live Translate, the real-time translator for video conversations, is hugely impressive too.

All of which means that if you want a cutting-edge smartphone and are prepared to pay a premium price, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is great choice.

Contract options

Although buying a phone SIM-free works out more cost-effective, most of us prefer to spread the cost of a new smartphone with a contract.

Below, we take at what Galaxy S24 contract options are available to help you choose the one that best meets your needs.

Can I get the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with no upfront cost?

You will be able to pick up the S24 Ultra with nothing to pay upfront. But, of course, that means paying more per month. So bear that in mind when you’re doing your sums.

Can I get the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with unlimited data?

Yes and there are plenty of networks to choose from too. Just make sure that you really need a Galaxy S24 contract with unlimited data, or you can be paying for a hefty allowance that you don’t really need.

What’s the cheapest way to get the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?

Because it’s a high-end smartphone, it’s to be expected that cheap Galaxy S24 deals are harder to come by than for less fully featured models. But that’s not to say there aren’t ways to keep your costs down.

If you’re looking to save money, we’d recommend you look beyond household-name networks and consider the likes of VOXI or iD Mobile. Their contracts typically won’t feature the same freebies or subscriptions to streaming services as bigger-names like Three or EE, but they’ll often be cheaper for that reason.

What’s more, because the smaller networks tend to piggyback on their larger counterparts’ infrastructure, you’ll get the same coverage even though you’re paying less for it.

Alternatively, if you’ve got the money to hand, you could buy the Galaxy S24 outright and off-contract. Then get a cheap SIM deal separately. Buying the phone this way instead of on a phone-and-SIM contract can save you hundreds of pounds.

Can I get the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with poor credit?

You might be able to. But it probably won’t be easy. That’s because networks will usually run credit checks before accepting you for a Galaxy S24 Ultra contract.

If you’ve got bad credit, you’re probably better off setting your sights on a cheaper model. Or buying a low-cost phone outright instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is now a good time to buy the Galaxy S24 Ultra?

Right now, the S24 Ultra is a strong contender for the best smartphone around. So on those grounds, it’s a very good time to buy one.

However, it’s worth noting that, at the time of writing (January 2024), the phone is very new. And that means you’ll be paying a premium price for it.

If you’re not sure you want to pay the price of a brand-new phone, you could wait a while. Or consider an older Samsung phone, such as the S23 Ultra, which is available substantially cheaper.

Will the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra drop in price?

Almost certainly. But you may be waiting a while for the price to actually come down by much. The price typically only comes down by a lot when a new model comes to market.
