Google has entered the foray of foldables with its first ever Pixel Fold handset. And it’s a foldable that really makes use of its folding design, offering great displays both folded and unfolded, handy multitasking software, and versatile usage modes.
All this, paired with a great camera system that’s synonymous with Google handsets, makes the Google Pixel Fold a worthy choice for tech enthusiasts looking for something different.
The Google Pixel Fold’s design and display
Of course, the standout feature of the Google Pixel Fold is its foldable design. The front 5.8-inch display is eminently usable on its own, fitting perfectly in the palm of your hand. Unfold it to reveal the large 7.6-inch display, which is perfect for anything you’d use a mini tablet for – think streaming videos or reading.
Its dual OLED displays are vibrant and punchy, offering plenty of colour and contrast. Not to mention, all display panels feature 120Hz refresh rates – meaning smooth animations and scrolling across the board.
Pixel Fold is currently the thinnest foldable on the market, measuring a mere 0.2 inches thick when open. However, it does feel quite hefty, weighing in at 283g.
The Google Pixel Fold’s camera
Pixel phones are known for their advanced camera capabilities and stellar image quality, and the Google Pixel Fold is no different. Overall, you can rely on the Pixel Fold to produce excellent snaps whatever the occasion – you’ll never miss that vital shot.
Its rear camera system comprises three lenses: a 48MP main sensor, a 10.8MP ultrawide, and a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. There’s also a 9.5MP front camera, as well as an 8MP lens on the inside of the phone.
The foldable form factor lends itself perfectly to hands-free selfies. And true to the Google Pixel brand, there’s an array of powerful computational photography features at your fingertips, such as Photo Unblur (fix and sharpen your shots) and Real Tone (better, more authentic representation of different skin tones.
