What insurance group is my Ford Fiesta in?

Insurers sort cars into categories, or ‘groups’, based on a range of factors, including their cost, performance and availability of parts. Check the table below to see how your Ford Fiesta compares. Or use our handy tool to find out which car insurance group your car is in.

What affects the cost of my Ford Fiesta insurance?

Insurance providers consider a range of factors to essentially determine how much of a claim risk you are. This includes the following:

  • Birthday

    Your age

Younger drivers generally pay more for car insurance as their inexperience makes them more likely to be involved in an incident

  • Map

    Your location

Some areas in the UK see higher car theft or vandalism rates, so people living there generally pay more for car insurance

  • Briefcase

    Your occupation

Certain jobs may make you more likely to have to claim on your car insurance policy, as such you'll likely pay more in premiums

  • Driving License

    Your driving and claims history

If you have a history of driving convictions or car insurance claims, insurers see you as a high risk of having to claim again

  • Lock

    Storage and safety

Storing your car in a garage or carport, or on a driveway, is likely to make your premiums cheaper than keeping it on the road – especially at night

How to cut the cost of Ford Fiesta car insurance

You may be able to reduce your car insurance premiums by doing the following:

  • 1

    Add an experienced driver

If you're a young driver you can benefit from adding a more experienced person to your policy, such as a parent or guardian. It shows you won’t be solely responsible for the vehicle

  • 2

    Build a no-claims bonus

If you can avoid making small or frivolous claims by paying for minor repairs yourself – but still informing your insurer of the damage – it can help you build a no-claims bonus that’ll earn you lower premiums in the future

  • 3

    Avoid features you don’t need

Car insurance policies can come with a raft of extra features to bolster your cover – but if they aren’t included as standard they’ll usually cost extra, so consider adding only ones that you know you’ll need

  • 4

    Consider telematics

Ford Fiestas are common choice for young drivers, who can also save money on their premiums by taking out telematics cover. This lets you earn discounts by demonstrating sensible driving habits

Our expert says…

You can no longer pick up a brand new Fiesta as Ford stopped production of the supermini in July 2023, turning its attention to SUVs and electric cars instead, but it’s still a much-loved second hand model. There are a wide range of Fiestas to choose from, including the economical mild hybrid, crossover style Active and sporty ST model. All are fun to drive, well-equipped, practical and cheap to run.
