Introductory Offer

Introductory offers on accounts are usually presented an incentive to switch or as a means of support for fledgling businesses. Introductory offers may include free banking for up to two years after the account opening, a reduced standing charge, discounted banking or free software. The introductory offer may be strictly limited to new start-up businesses or businesses with a limited annual turnover. Select this option to only view accounts with introductory offers.

Free Transactions

Some accounts charge a fee for the transactions you make on your account, depending on whether they are automated or non-automated. For example, you may be charged a non-automated debit fee for each cheque you issue. Some accounts offer free transactions up to a set limit on a monthly or quarterly basis, and these may include a set number of cheque transactions, debits and credits, or free transfers between accounts. Select this option if you wish to see accounts that offer this facility.

Interest In Credit

Some financial institutions pay interest on your money when you maintain a credit balance on your account. Interest you earn will be credited to your account on a monthly, quarterly or half-yearly basis, and the rate may vary from time to time. You can sometimes earn a higher rate of interest when your account balance reaches certain levels or tiers of investment, for example £5,000. The interest rate will often be quoted as a %AER, the AER being designed to let you compare interest rates easily.

Standind Charge

Some institutions charge a fee for account administration, and this is known as the 'standing charge'. The standing charge is debited from your account on a monthly or quarterly basis, depending on the charging period of your account. Often, the standing charge will vary from between £2 and £35 per month, and for some accounts this can be considered a 'flat fee' thats covers all transaction charges. Select this option if you wish to see accounts with no standing charge.

Business Current & Cheque Accounts

All accounts listed are available to sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, unless stated otherwise. In some cases, accounts are also available for charities and clubs, pension funds and client's money.
