Even the tooth fairy is going contactless
It’s official, the tooth fairy has gone contactless - swapping coins under the pillow for digital payments to keep up with today’s cashless society.
According to our latest research, 1 in 10 fortunate kids in the UK now receive digital payments in exchange for their teeth and 38% of parents say a tech-savvy tooth fairy is making life easier.
Switching to digital payments will help the tooth fairy with the consistency of how much kids receive. Four in ten parents said the amount left under their children’s pillows varies for every single visit and one in five said the tooth fairy has even been known to overpay because they didn’t have the right change.
So, what's a tooth worth these days?
You're not the only one asking! We found that one in five parents wished there was a standard guide for how much a tooth is worth and it’s rubbing off on their children too, with one in four kids comparing notes with friends to see who is getting the best deal.

Introducing the 'Gnash-ional Averages Tracker'
To help bring some order to the bedtime barter, we’ve introduced a ‘Gnash-ional Averages Tracker’ exposing just how much the tooth fairy is paying per tooth on average in the UK.
Our data revealed that the average tooth payout ranges from 51p to £1 but that the tooth fairy is significantly more generous in Greater London and Scotland, where kids are cashing in a whopping £4.51- £5 on average.
