How to Get Proof of Your No-Claims Bonus: Video Transcript

Updated: 10 Sep 2025

Your no-claims bonus, known as an NCB, can save you money on car insurance. Here’s how to get proof:

  1. Check your paperwork: Look at your renewal notice, cancellation letter, or confirmation from your insurer. This will show how many years of NCB you’ve accumulated.

  2. Access online tools: Some insurers let you view your no claims bonus through their website or app. You can also use the Motor Insurance Bureau’s database if needed.

  3. Ensure it's valid: Proof must be dated within two years of starting your new policy, so don’t wait too long to request it.

  4. Send proof to your new insurer: Most insurers accept proof via post or email but check their requirements. Some insurers may need it within 7–28 days after your new policy starts.

  5. Keep your no claim bonus active: If you stop driving, your no claims bonus remains valid for up to two years. After that, it expires, and you’ll have to start over.

Remember, providing accurate proof ensures your new policy reflects your no claims discount.
