When is the best time to sell my iPhone 14?
Apple usually announces its latest iPhone every September or October. Whenever a new iPhone goes on sale, offers on older models will go down in price. So, if you’re planning to sell your old iPhone 14, it’s a good idea to do so before then.
All that said, there’s never a bad time to declutter your old devices. If you have an unused iPhone 14 that’s just sitting in your drawers, now is a good time to sell it.
iPhone 14 price history
The iPhone 14 was released in September 2022. At launch, it was priced at £849 for 128GB of storage, £959 for 256GB, or £1,179 for 512GB.
Will my iPhone 14 be recycled?
Yes – though what exactly happens depends on the condition of your device, as well as the current smartphone market.
If your phone is in good condition, or it’s a more recent model, it’ll most probably be refurbished and sold on. Older devices and phones in less good condition are more likely to be dismantled, their parts used to refurbish other phones.
Otherwise, if it can’t be refurbished or reused at all, it’ll be taken apart. Recyclable materials will be melted down and reused elsewhere, while other parts will be disposed of safely.
Whether it’s reused or recycled, it’ll be dealt with in an environmentally friendly way.
Can I get paid for a broken iPhone 14?
Of course – most recyclers will gladly accept phones that are broken or damaged. This could be anything like cosmetic damage (including cracked screens, scratches and dents, broken buttons), faulty pixels on the display, or operating system problems.
It’ll be worth less than a fully-functioning phone in good condition – but you should still be able to get some money for it, nonetheless. However, recyclers are unlikely to accept water-damaged phones, or phones that are significantly damaged (for example, if it’s snapped in two).
Each recycling company will have its own conditions on what counts as broken and what they’ll accept, so be sure to check. To get the most accurate quotes for your iPhone 14, it’s best to be as honest as you can about its condition.

Can I trade my old iPhone 14 for a new one?
Yes, you can trade in your old iPhone 14 for a new one – and there are a couple of ways to do this.
First, you can trade in your old iPhone directly to Apple. In return, they’ll give you a discount towards a new iPhone, which will come in handy if you’re looking to buy your device directly from Apple.
However, Apple’s trade-in programme may not necessarily offer the best price on your old phone. Not to mention, you may be able to find betters deals for new handsets elsewhere.
To weigh up your trade-in options, see our comparison table above. We’ll show you the quotes currently offered by other companies we work with, so you can compare all your options and choose the best one for you.
