Like most private insurers, The Exeter does not normally cover pre-existing conditions. Under moratorium underwriting some conditions may be re-covered if you have been symptom and treatment-free for a set period

Traditional cover: You choose a hospital list up front and your GP can refer you to a named specialist from that list.
Guided cover: Your GP provides an open referral. The Exeter then gives you a shortlist of up to three specialists to choose from. Guided cover is usually more cost-effective, while Traditional gives more freedom of choice.
