British Gas HomeCare and boiler cover
It’s the UK’s biggest energy supplier, so it’s no surprise that British Gas also offers one of the most comprehensive boiler cover services on the market too.
Here’s what you need to know about its boiler cover, and what you get when you sign up to a HomeCare package.
What is British Gas HomeCare?
HomeCare is a comprehensive boiler and central heating cover from British Gas. It covers maintenance and boiler service, and means you’re covered in the case of a sudden boiler breakdown or central heating problems.
There are three different tiers of HomeCare to choose from. While they all include cover for your boiler and central heating, the higher tiers also include cover for plumbing, drains and home electricals.
As well as that, you can add other types of British Gas cover too, such as kitchen appliance cover.
What’s included?
There are three levels of cover:
HomeCare Basic
HomeCare Classic
HomeCare Complete
The higher the tier, the more additional services are included. All HomeCare packages include:
Full annual boiler service
Unlimited callouts for problems with your boiler or central heating system
Parts and labour costs for boiler repairs
24/7, UK-based helpline
British Gas’ network of trusted engineers
HomeCare Classic comes with plumbing and drains cover included (courtesy of Dyno-Rod), while HomeCare Complete also covers home electrics.
There’s no cost limit on claims on any packages either.
Some things aren’t included at any level, such as limescale removal, or servicing of other gas appliances. (The latter is available in British Gas’ separate Gas Appliances Cover, though.)

Does British Gas offer other types of cover?
While HomeCare Basic just covers your boiler and central heating, the higher tiers of cover also include plumbing, drains and home electrics. There’s also specialist landlord boiler and heating cover.
Additionally, British Gas offers appliance cover: Kitchen Appliance Cover, which covers gas cooking, electric cooking, washing appliances and refrigeration, and Gas Appliance Cover, which covers gas cooking and gas heating appliances.
You can take those plans out separately or add them onto your HomeCare policy.
You can also opt for standalone plumbing and drains cover and home electrics cover, as well as boiler-only cover.
How soon can you make a claim with British Gas?
British Gas has a no-claims period of the first 14 days of signing up for cover.
Nevertheless, there’s no limit on the number of callouts, amount of repairs, or cost per year. You’re fully covered on everything for an entire year.
British Gas boiler service
An annual boiler service, for the basic maintenance and checking of your boiler, is included as standard in all British Gas HomeCare packages.
If you don’t want or need a full HomeCare plan, you can opt for standalone Boiler Cover. This includes an annual boiler service, unlimited callouts, and parts and labour for any repairs required.
