How much can I sell my iPhone 12 for?

The newer the phone, the more money you’ll get for it. So, if you have an old iPhone 12 collecting dust, now is a good time to sell it.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that new iPhones are usually released every September – meaning offers on old iPhones will likely dip. So, it’s a good idea to sell your iPhone 12 before then.

All that said, there’s never really a bad time to declutter your old devices.

iPhone 12 price history

The iPhone 12 was released in October 2020. At launch, it was priced at £799 for 64GB of storage, £849 for 128GB, and £949 for the 256GB version.

It was launched alongside three other devices: the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Since then, the prices for all iPhone 12 models have dropped.

Will my iPhone 12 be recycled?

Yes – but how it’s recycled largely depends on the condition of your device, as well as the current smartphone market.

If your phone is in good condition, or it’s a more recent model, it’ll probably be refurbished and sold on. Older devices, or phones that are worse for wear, may be dismantled and their parts used to refurbish other phones.

Otherwise, if it can’t be refurbished or reused, it’ll be taken apart. Recyclable materials will be melted down and reused elsewhere, while other parts will be disposed of safely.

Can I get paid for a broken iPhone 12?

Absolutely – most recyclers will happily accept phones that are broken or damaged. This could be anything like cosmetic damage (e.g. cracked screens, scratches and dents, broken buttons), faulty pixels on the display, or operating system problems. To get the most accurate quotes for your iPhone 12, it’s best to be as honest as you can about its condition.

Of course, you’ll get less money for it than you would for a phone that’s fully functioning and in good condition – but you should be able to sell it nonetheless. However, recyclers are unlikely to accept water-damaged phones, or phones that are significantly damaged (for example, if it’s snapped in two).

Can I trade my old iPhone 12 for a new one?

Indeed, you can trade in your old iPhone 12 for a new phone – and there are a couple of ways to do this.

First, you can trade in your old iPhone directly to Apple. This gets you a discount on a new iPhone, and it’s pretty handy if you’re happy to buy your device outright from Apple.

However, Apple’s trade-in programme may not necessarily offer the best price on your old phone. Not to mention, you may be able to find betters deals for new handsets elsewhere.
