The iPhone 11 Pro Max was released in September 2019. At launch, it was priced at £1,149 for 64GB of storage, £1,299 for 256GB, and £1,499 for the 512GB version.

At the time, it was Apple’s most expensive phone ever – even now, it’s still among the priciest iPhones launched. It was the top-end flagship model of the 13th-generation of iPhone, and was released alongside the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

Following the announcement of the iPhone 12, Apple discontinued the iPhone 11 Pro Max. But you can still sell it to recyclers, who may resell it as a refurbished device.

Will my iPhone 11 Pro Max be recycled?

Yes – but what happens depends on the condition of your device, as well as the current smartphone market.

If your phone is in good condition, or it’s a more recent model, it’ll likely be refurbished and sold on. Older devices and phones in less good condition may be dismantled, and their parts used to refurbish other phones.

Otherwise, if it can’t be refurbished or reused, it’ll be taken apart. Recyclable materials will be melted down and reused elsewhere, while other parts will be disposed of safely.

It’ll be worth less than a fully-functioning phone in good condition – but you should still be able to get some money for it, nonetheless. However, recyclers are unlikely to accept water-damaged phones, or phones that are significantly damaged (for example, if it’s snapped in two).
