Health Cash Plans
Health care cash plans are a great enhancement to the services already offered by the NHS.
Health care cash plans offer cover for a broad range of treatments and gives you the option to choose for a specific treatment to be performed privately. They are not insurance policies but rather they assist towards medical expenses that otherwise may not be covered.

This policy generally meets the needs of someone wishing to insure against medical expenses
Why take out a health cash plan?
Many people struggle with basic health costs, including regular check ups at the dentist and optician. With job losses and continuing financial uncertainty, family finances have come under even more pressure, but health cash plans can help ease some of the pressure.
This type of plan is designed to contribute towards routine healthcare costs and work by paying out a cash sum whenever you or whoever is insured under the plan visits a dentist or other medical practitioner, such as a chiropodist or optician.
The money you get from the plan can be spent on whatever you want.
What's covered?
Policies will vary depending on which cash plan you go for, so it is essential to read the small print carefully. Most plans cover dental and optical treatment, but others also include practitioner treatment including physiotherapy, chiropody, acupuncture, homeopathy, podiatry, and specialist investigation and treatment.
The amount you can claim for any of these costs will be capped, so check how much you are likely to get back. Usually you can opt to pay a higher premium in return for a higher level of cover.
What else you should know
You don't have to have a medical to sign up for a cash plan, and children are often covered free of charge where one or more of the parents are covered.
Another advantage is that premiums do not increase with age, although some providers will have upper age limits if you are signing up for the first time.
