Economy 7 is when you get charged a different amount for using your energy during the day and at night.
The daytime cost is usually more expensive than it would be on a standard tariff, but the night time cost is much cheaper.
This night rate runs for seven hours overnight – that’s why it’s called economy 7.
If you’re not sure if you’re on economy 7, you can check by looking at your bill.
If you’re on economy 7, your bill will be broken down into day rates and night rates. Your meter will also show two sets of numbers, either labelled ‘normal’ and ‘low’ or ‘day rate’ and night rate’.
