Protecting against burglars this Christmas
Christmas is coming, that means peace and good will to all men and women. It means Turkey, mince pies, Carol singing and if you’re lucky- presents.
Unfortunately, burglars don’t have much Christmas spirit and they’re very active this time of year. So, if you’re lucky enough to have presents before or after Christmas, make sure you keep them out of sight of your windows.
Also, think of all the boxes the presents came in, don’t just chuck them outside by the bins, dispose of them carefully so you’re not advertising that you’ve got presents inside the house.
At Christmas, as any time of year, it’s important to be security conscious. So, make sure you lock your doors and windows, even if you’re just nipping to the neighbours for a glass of sherry and a mince pie.
Now, any valuable items that you have in your house around Christmas, should be covered by your content insurance. Indeed some policies have a seasonal uplift, to take account of the extra value that might be inside your home.
If you’re lucky enough to receive an expensive present you might have to list it separately on your content insurance. Most policies require you to list items worth £1000 or £1500 pounds, so that you claim the full value if you suffer a loss.
