You won't go too far wrong with the iPhone 11 or the iPhone 11 Pro Max. But which one is best for your needs? Read on and we'll take a close look.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max

The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max both arrived in late 2019. At the time, they were part of Apple’s new iPhone range, although they have since been superseded by the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.

However, each device offers a still impressive spec sheet, as well as support for the very latest iOS software.

The smaller iPhone 11 is available on some affordable deals, while you can snare the more capacious and powerful iPhone 11 Pro Max on contracts that are much cheaper than those available for more up to date models.

Overall Winner in snapshot: iPhone 11 Pro Max

With a larger, brighter screen and better camera, thePro Maxis the clear winner here.

Its overall prowess is better than the iPhone 11 deals, although if you prefer devices a bit smaller, you may still prefer to get the latter.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max: What are the key differences?

As the names suggest, the iPhone 11 is a smaller device than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The latter packs a 6.5-inch display, while the former comes in at 6.1-inches.

That’s not the only difference when it comes to the screen either.

The iPhone 11 has a gorgeous Liquid Retina display, but the iPhone 11 Pro Max takes things up a notch with a Super Retina OLED effort.

It also features a third, telephoto lens on the camera, making images look even better.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max design

The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max look largely the same to the untrained eye.

Take a closer look, though, and you’ll see the latter has a stainless steel band, as well as a matte glass finish which gives it a more premium feel.

This pair of iPhones have since been outdone by the more squared off industrial stylings of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, but that’s no deal breaker when considering how good the specs remain.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max camera

The iPhone 11 comes with a dual lens camera, each lens packing 12MP. One is an ultrawide effort with f/2.4 aperture, the other a wide f/1.8 lens.

It takes excellent images and, despite being over two years old, is still one of the best in the business.

However, the iPhone 11 Pro Max adds a third lens, a 12MP f/2.0 telephoto that allows for amazing close ups and even better night time photography.

If you love taking pictures and using social media, you’ll find the iPhone 11 Pro Max a better bet than its smaller sibling.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max screen display

This is perhaps the biggest difference between the two devices. While the iPhone 11’s Liquid Retina display, with a 1792 x 828 resolution, is more than enough for everyday users, the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s larger, 6.5-inch effort is far more impressive.

Its Super Retina OLED tech, with 2688 x 1242 resolution makes it a cut above, rendering games and videos in incredible detail.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max battery life and performance

Being the larger device, the iPhone 11 Pro Max also has a bigger battery, which means it can last a lot longer, more than 24 hours, on a single charge when used for basic tasks such as web browsing, texting and taking pictures.

The iPhone 11’s battery is smaller and you’ll find it needs a daily charge.

In terms of performance, each model packs Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset, meaning they tick along at roughly the same rate and can handle powerful games and apps in the same way. Throw in support for iOS 15 and overall performance is largely the same.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max software

Although they’re older devices, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max both support 2021’s iOS 15 and will support future versions of Apple’s operating system for many years. The software is intuitive and easy to use and looks the same on each handset.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro Max verdict

They might be old by smartphone standards, but the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max are still impressive devices. Each one has a striking screen and cameras that can take pictures to best all but a small number of more up to date handsets.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is the better device, thanks to its better display resolution and third camera. The good news is that both phones are now available at affordable prices.
