With its sleek design and improved functionalities, the latest iPhone is sure to delight any Apple fan. Find out what makes it one of the best smartphones on the market today:
The iPhone is now water-resistant! Six months after Samsung released a water and dust-proof handset (the Galaxy S7), Apple came out with their own smartphone boasting an IP67 rating. (‘6’ means it’s completely dust-proof, while ‘7’ means it’s water-resistant under certain circumstances.)
The iPhone 7 features an upgraded chassis, which is able to withstand being dunked in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes, and will tolerate any splashes and spills. However, this doesn’t make the handset completely waterproof - any longer than 30 minutes, and it’s unlikely it’ll survive.
The removal of the headphone jack was one of the most controversial moves Apple made - but the new and improved headphones, known as AirPods, more than make up for it.
The wireless headphones are slick, and they’re smart: a tap on one of the pods activates Siri, and you can speak to the virtual assistant directly without taking your phone out of your pocket. They also recognise if you’ve taken one of them out (for instance, when someone is speaking to you) and will automatically pause whatever you’re listening to, so you don’t miss a minute of your favourite podcast.
Don’t be fooled by its seemingly lower resolution: the iPhone 7’s display is one of the best we’ve ever seen. Its brightness, colour quality, and sharpness have all been improved, and it’s perfect to watch videos on or take pictures.
But what really makes it special is 3D Touch - the pressure-sensitive system first released with the iPhone 6s - which allows you to perform different actions depending on the amount of pressure you put on the screen.
