Is this the future of telematics car insurance?

Telematics is a red-hot topic. Having a ‘black box’ device in your car that transmits data about your driving to your insurer is hailed as a great way to link premiums to actual performance – the lower your risk profile, the lower the cost of cover. Now Citroen has taken things one step further by fitting telematics as standard in the C1 Connexion, alongside the offer of a year’s free insurance. You also get SatNav and quick-call buttons to a breakdown recovery service, 999 and, if you take up the insurance offer, the insurance provider. Connected and convenient? Or a bit too Big Brother for your liking? Les Roberts takes the C1 for a spin and puts the technology through its paces to help you make up your mind.
