Evolution of the car stereo

It’s easy to take listening to music in our cars for granted. Howeve,r the stereo has come on quite a journey since the first car radio in 1930. The Motorola 5T71 cost drivers a quarter of the price of their vehicle, and the estimated fitting time was 48 hours! Despite this, it was a real breakthrough for the motoring industry and it has continued to evolve with each passing decade. Eventually, car audio systems allowed people to listen to their own music while the drove, first through 8-track cassettes, then standard cassettes and eventually on to CDs.
