. I have home emergency cover as part of my policy. i do not have key cover. although my keys were stolen from inside my house, it appears someone managed to open the window, and used some thing to lean over and retrieve my keys. home emergency cover states " Home security including locks and windows" there is someone out there with the keys to every door and padlock. i rung and tried to get cover? they said no, it wasnt covered because i dont have KEY cover, i stated above quote? also the section which states whats covered is " , home security " i pointed out i could not leave the home in case i was being watched and someone came in whilst i was away? they said they agreed and would look into it? they did and basically said tough. " i was negligent by a leaving window open window

Unethical customer policy- avoid

Dial Direct will charge you £35 for cancelling a policy which they have automatically renewed, without reasonable (or in my case -any) warning that they will do so. They will do this regardless of the amount.
Their customer service team are unhelpful and disorganised, I was initially put through to car insurance despite ringing the number given for my home insurance policy. Therefore I had to go through security twice and explain the situation twice.
They said they had sent me notice in the post 30 days prior to my renewal. Maybe they had, but I did not receive it and therefore had no notice of renewal until the evening of my renewal date when they sent an email. The email gave no info on price or policy cover and suggested visiting their self service which would not accept my details.

I insured with them for a year. They then sent me a renewal quote stating that if I wanted to renew with them then to get in touch. Since this was too high I didn't bother to contact them and went with another insurer. Two days after my old policy expired they sent me all the documents stating that I have renewed the policy with them and that they will take the money out of my account! I immediatedly phoned them but they said they auto-renew all policies and if I was to cancel then I will have to pay them £35 *****istration fee!! AVOID AT ALL COST!

AVOID

We took out home insurance online. It wasn't the cheapest but we decided to go with them. They decided to add it to our vehicle insurance and charge an extra £30 (for changing the document) without telling us. Then we received a letter saying that as we had not signed something and sent it back to them we were being charged another £15. We phoned customer services and they admitted that they had not asked us to send it back, and if we did they would cancel the charges. We sent it the next day. Guess what - they still took the £15. I will never use this company again and would not recommend to anyone.

Great Service and Cover at a great price

I recently used Dial Direct for my home insurance and had an extremly positive experience. The price was very competitive and towards the top of the list on the website, and not only that it included Home Emergency assistance for free which is a really good product, and Legal protection for free. I rang them up to confirm a couple of details and got through to somebody in the UK which was really pleasing, and they couldn't help enough to answer my questions and set the insurance up.
