Top vacuums: The Genius of the Dyson Ball

15-20 minutes every few days, depending on the size of your flat. That’s what I would have said to you, had you asked me how much work it would take to keep your home clean with a Dyson Ball.

Now, I’ve no fancy degree or ribbon to show you my vacuum expertise; all I have is my experience. I know that regular maintenance of your floor will keep your sweaty feet debris-free and keep the bugs out of your flat. I’ve learned this the hard way. I also know that it is a pain, but you have to do it. I’ve no mum to clean up after me, and I’m opposed to buying a Roomba. They’re cute now, those robots, but we’ll be taking orders from them soon enough. Have you seen the robot at the University of Ljubljana they’re training to punch people? Nutters.

But I apologize for digressing. My point is that having quality equipment makes the job easier.

Dyson vacuums are just that level of quality you’re looking for, and the Dyson balls are perfect for light and regular maintenance. That pivot ball design of theirs is genius and makes sweeping around corners an effortless task.

The Dyson DC25 Animal is especially good for picking up hair in hard-to-maneuver spaces. If you have many indoor pets, or if you are just a hairy person, this vacuum is the right one for you. If you’re simply looking for hand held vacuum cleaners for minor spots and spills, the Dyson animal DC31 is a good option (yes, two animal vacuums. A lot of hair builds up in my flat). It has a motorized brush bar and a dual power mode which gives it that extra power when you need it.

Though the Dyson Ball is maneuverable, for the heavy jobs I would go elsewhere. The Vax v91-p3 power 3 bagless upright vacuum is a good option for those of you that have lots of open space. It is very powerful as well as lightweight  and has a wide cleaning area. It has a High Efficient Particle Arrester which will be a blessing to your allergies.

Good luck. With your new equipment you’ll be able to take care of those fearsome dust bunnies in no time.

About Jeffrey H.

Hi my name is Jeff Hughes. I grew up watching British TV (probably a little too young to have been watching Black Adder) and particularly enjoy watching Hugh Laurie on the screen. I studied British and American Literature at University but I wish I had been reading comic books the whole time. I enjoy pubs because I believe you can’t drink on an empty stomach. I also like cats.
