Tomorrow I’m going to be at the “Dream Toys” event. That’s where the Toy Retailers Association announces officially this years TOP 10 TOYS. I’ll be “Tweeting” from the event itself (So make sure you follow shoppingexpert) and hopefully I’ll be updating the blog if I can find a decent Wi-Fi connection. But just for fun I thought I’d take my best guess as what the top toys will be.
Now I’ll be honest, I’ve got two boys (Jack 4 and Peter 2) so I really don’t have a clue about girls toys or anything for “Tweens”. When the Dream Dozen is announced you will almost certainly find that Barbie/Sylvanian Families/Ben10/Bakugan products will end up high in the official chart but not on my list. So remember this is just for fun – here are my predictions.
Buzz Lightyear – He’s back and he’s more awesome than ever
Goodnight Iggle Piggle – Perfect for toddlers, comes with pyjamas, lamp and story book to help teach a bedtime routine
Harry Potter Lego – Lego in any format is going to be huge, the latest film should make Harry Potter to the most popular
Zhu Zhu Hamster – Their back for another year in the Dream Dozen with all new haircuts!!!
Imaginext Bigfoot the Monster – Walks, talks, plays and…..burps
Stinky The Garbage Truck – A feisty and loveable interactive garbage truck that loves to talk, sing, eat
Dave The Shoulder Monkey – His name is Dave, he’s a monkey, he sits on your shoulder. Brilliant.
Microsoft Kinect – The Xbox takes on the Wii
Playstation Move – Playstation takes on the Wii…..and the Xbox
Call Of Duty Black Ops – Prestige Edition. Probably the biggest entertainment event of the year. This package all sorts of goodies including a remote control
Now I know the last three are video games and I’m not sure if the Toy Retailers Association includes video games, but these are going to be stacked high on Santa’s Sleigh this year, so I feel justified in including them.
Remember this isn’t the official list – brands like Scalextic, Sylvanian Families, Paper Jamz and Ben10 all have a great chance of making into the Dream Dozen. Check back tomorrow and I’ll keep you updated (Wi-Fi permitting of course)
To keep you going until then, here’s the video from the 2009 announcement
