Do you start tapping your foot and bopping your hips every time you hear Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”? If your body becomes uncontrollable under the spell of his music, you should most definitely have a go at the “Michael Jackson: The Experience” game for Nintendo Wii. It is probably the best out of all Michael Jackson games. Obviously, you will need to have a Wii console and a Wii remote to play.
The game itself has great dance routines set to 26 of Michael’s biggest hits and it is extremely easy to pick up and play with up to four people. The motion controls are a bit unpredictable and there is a lack of bonus content, but otherwise, playing the game is an overwhelmingly fun way to spend a night with your mates. Plus you’ll be burning hundreds of calories as well.
To play the game, you hold the Wii remote in your right hand and mimic the motions of the virtual dancer on the screen. You win points based on how accurate your movements are, measured by the remote. A score bar on the left of the screen keeps track of your points, filling up and hitting star markers as you dance. The game isn’t perfect at following your movements, which can be a bit frustrating sometimes as you’re wondering why you don’t have a perfect score when clearly your moves are as smooth as the King of Pop’s. Although, fortunately, it’s impossible to completely fail a song. You’ll all be winners.
You should be at least somewhat coordinated however, because the choreography is a bit challenging. Most of the dance routines are based on the ones from Michael’s music videos mixed with some original moves inspired by his famous style of dancing.
With any luck, you’ll be able to do a pretty mean moonwalk after playing the game a few times.
