George Clooney is among the biggest names in Hollywood history and for good reason. While his latest film, “The American“, is not exactly his best work, he has a long line of success behind him. He headed the Oceans series and had a more than stellar performance in “Oceans 11” to get things underway. The Oceans series features a star-studded cast that is hard to match. With names like Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts to add to Clooney, it is a must see film. That is just the beginning by the way; the list goes on and on.
Clooney along with fellow superstars Matt Damon and Brad Pitt have also helped pioneer what I would consider to be my favourite film genre: dramedy. Dramedy is a very dry style of humour that emphasizes a series of odd events to create a rather interesting and funny tale. Damon had his success with “The Informant”, while Pitt starred in “Burn After Reading” and Clooney followed up with “Up in the Air.” All three of these films are incredible and will have you laughing out loud and then wondering if it was even appropriate to laugh.
In “Up in the Air”, Clooney plays a consultant who thrives on firing people. His entire mission in life is to become a member of the top flight class in the world by having 1,000,000 miles under his belt. With a whacky sister, an odd relationship and a new prodigy, the story takes you on a series of twists and turns and keeps you coming back for more.
Clooney’s impact on the entertainment business will definitely be felt and his face should be recognized for generations to come. Having played a variety of roles, it is a mystery of what might still come from him. He has done everything from hilarious comedies to glorious war stories and everything in-between.
