Ornament Your Garden

Garden ornaments are highly underrated for their contribution to beautiful, personalised, relaxing gardens. Garden ornaments reveal a bit of the gardener’s personality – their quirks, the things that are important to them in life, their creativity, maybe even a sense of their humour.

Gardens and their ornaments are symbols of enchantment, refuge, and artistry. They have the power to elevate your mood. You should feel free to be playful and creative when shopping for garden ornaments. For example, I love garden gnomes; I think that they’re so much fun and I love that they’re a bit kitschy. At the same time, your garden ornaments should underscore your individuality and the passion that you have for gardening. They should add meaningful, perhaps personal touches to the oasis you’ve created. For example, small stepping stones that have words or phrases engraved in them or a birdbath are great ways to ground you and anyone else who may visit your garden. Garden ornaments should also trigger the imagination.

There are specific ways to use ornaments to make the most of your garden space. For example, use a single focus. Focus on one element of the garden and build the rest around it. This can be a gazebo, sculptures, or an arbour, to give you a few ideas. Or, you can give your garden a sense of architecture, a sense of order and style. Some iron gate work or metal topiary forms will achieve this; so will simple garden ornaments that are artfully placed.

Now, having collected a variety of art and ornaments to enhance your garden, be sure to scatter the landscape and use varieties of height. For example, frame ornamental pieces of art with simple low-growing shrubs and flowers. Finally, light your garden with candles, lanterns, or sting lighting if you entertain guests.

About Tari

I can’t stand crowds, or queues, so most of my shopping is done by flitting around the internet! A bit more dangerous perhaps (I own way too many shoes and beauty products), but so much more efficient.
