The Wii is an amazing console as I have said many times before. Though the other consoles are also taking part in the motion sensor novelty, the Wii (with the Wii MotionPlus and sensor upgrades) still does it better and of course has more range in games to experience the interactive motion sensor.
Many have bought their Wii console to encourage a more active gaming dynamic in their children, or to feel less guilty about their own sedentary lifestyle. If you fall into the latter category but still want a fun experience without having to play juvenile cartoonish options (see Wii sports or the Hannah Montana games) here are three active and fun video games to include in your Wii gaming library.
Skate It
Yes, skateboarders are very talented athletes (and ever so cool). Now you can learn how to skate using the Wii balance board and Wii controllers without any of the scrapes and bruises from falling on the hard concrete. Be forewarned that the difficulty of this game is not for those that lack patience, but the effort from getting your virtual skateboard to do what you want will definitely work your muscles.
Just Dance 2
There’s nothing more fun than dancing and if you note the dance/exercise movements cropping up everywhere, dance is great for your body as well. Now I know when you think dance and video games the Dance Dance Revolution franchise pops into your mind first, but since I’m sick of that weird Tokyo pop infused game I’ve decided to go with the Just Dance 2 Wii game instead. It’s the ideal party game and with accessible classics from funk, R&B, Rock, Disco etc. you’ll never have to go to a club to dance again.
Punch-Out!!
The new Punch-out for the Wii is an essential game for Nintendo enthusiasts. Even if you haven’t played the Mike Tyson’s from NES or Super Punch-Out for the SNES, boxing fans and those that enjoyed the simple boxing mode in Wii Sports will appreciate how fun and challenging this game can be. The new Wii installment in the series has returning favourites like Glass Joe, King Hippo (everyone’s hated nemesis from the NES version) and Von Kaiser. The game features 3 different modes –career, title defense, and last standing–unlocked after you beat the previous mode and also feature a head to head option. For the best workout experience, make sure you play this game with the Wii controller + nunchuck and the balance board.
