MP3 Players: iPod or Something Else?

While Apple has established itself as the leading MP3 player producer with its world renowned iPod, it is not the only option available. There are a variety of other players in the field, most notably Sony.  With iPods dominating the market, many of their competitors are driven out or rarely heard of for MP3 players. However, some of these other products offer things that even the iPod cannot match. For instance, Sony offers a variety of affordable and lightweight MP3 players geared toward the active user. Storage space is lacking in a lot of these products as they only range from 2 to 16 GB, but their sleek design makes them a great companion on a light jog around town or a trip to the gym. Some of these alternative MP3 players are also waterproof for those of you who prefer to train in the pool or wet weather.

This is not to say that the iPod is not a great product; in fact, I prefer an iPod to any other MP3 player. They offer the widest variety of storage space, starting with their 2 GB shuffle and ending with the 160 GB IPod classic. Whether you consider yourself a music guru or just an average listener, Apple makes an MP3 player that is tailored to your needs. The new iPod Nano combines a small and lightweight design with a manageable storage capacity of 8 GB. Last, but not least, the iPod touch now comes with up to 32 GB of storage space and is equipped with a luxurious touch screen.

The iPod is always a great choice, but do not be afraid to explore your options and see if another MP3 player might fit your needs better. If limited storage space is not an issue for you, then saving close to 50 percent on your purchase might be a bit more appealing than following the trend and spending big money on a hard drive that you are not going to utilize.

About Ranjit

I grew up playing America Football, Football and Track & Field. American Football and Track have always been my greatest passions and I always aspired to play at the collegiate level. Due to a high grade sarcoma in my right leg, I recently decided to amputate my leg and get back to the active lifestyle that I used to live. After making this choice, I have not looked back as it has opened doors to a number of new opportunities and even some of my old passions.
