If you’ve got wall-to-wall carpeting in your flat, you realize how pivotal a vacuum is to your cleaning efforts. With the right attachments, your vacuum pretty much does everything from carpet to upholstery. So if you’re thinking of buying a new vacuum here are a few things to consider.
You’ll want to keep in mind the power of the vacuum, whether it’s bagged or bagless, upright or canister, whether you want a HEPA air filter and most importantly your choice should be based on the areas you’ll be cleaning and your problem spots. A good example of a debate that takes all these factors into consideration is the choice between pet centred vacuum cleaners such as the Miele Cat & Dog and the Dyson DC33 Animal.
Upright pet vacuums like the Dyson Animal and the Vax U90-MA-R are great if your place is only one one level, but are hard to lug up stairs and is the reason why people choose canister types like the Miele. Canisters are also more versatile in reaching those out of the way corners and tight spots. A far as bags go, many uprights like the Dyson are bagless and canisters are typically bagged but it’s up to you as to what your preference may be. Bagged vacuums are easier and less messy to dispose of but of course you have to continue to buy these disposable bags.
As far as power goes, the Miele has a lot more power than the Dyson Animal. Both vacuums are adequate when picking up pet hair and dander and both have the HEPA air filter so I think the final criteria for deciding between these two vacuums is the price tag. If that is your final deciding factor then keep in mind the Miele Cat and Dog is slightly less expensive than the Dyson.
