Horror films have always found a way to create a long line of sequels. It all began with the Halloween series and here we are now with Saw the Final Chapter. These gruesome horror films catch the eye of the masses and manage to be quite successful even five and six films later. Saw is no different in that regard. One would have thought that after the third film in the series, that Saw would find its end. Now, here are three films after that and they are now only hinting at the end of the series.
I remember when I saw the first Saw. The film was actually quite interesting, the entire theory behind jigsaw’s crazy logic made for an interesting film. The ruthlessness of his torture devices and schemes paired with the idea that everybody has to pay for their sins, no matter how small, keeps you on the edge of your seat.
In the final chapter, we are long removed from Jigsaw and have seen the actions of his prodigy. However, the premise of the film is still much the same. A group of people are abducted and placed in an abandoned warehouse with no recollection of how they got there. This time however, the action all stems from a meeting that includes all of the survivors of the jigsaw game. The action heats up and the traps that jigsaw lays out are more gruesome than ever.
One thing Saw does have on its side that the Halloween series never did, is modern technology. Not only are the effects much better, but with the evolution of giant LCD and plasma televisions as well as blu ray players, you have incredible video quality. So grab your popcorn, sit down in front of your 50 inch TV and be prepared to get spooked.
