With more live matches available than ever before, and the web filled with stories and transfer rumors, our access to all things football have reached unprecedented heights. Yet the true football junkies amongst us constantly crave more. Luckily there are plenty of great products available for the football junkies in our lives.
Football Video Games
Sure the folks over at Konami once had the people’s choice award for authenticity, but that was years ago. Pro Evolution looks quite good this year, but FIFA 11 for PS3 and Xbox 360 leaves it in the dust. It is hands down the best football simulator available. The graphics are slick and the game play is realistic and challenging. And any junkie will love the pure number of playable leagues.
Perhaps the pinnacle of football gaming, this popular series allows you to choose essentially any club or country in the world and run it your way. From training, to transfers, all the way up to meticulous tactical planning to neutralize your opposition’s players on an individual level, Football Manager 2011 for PC offers an unbeatable management simulation. The number of real players built into the game is staggering. The statistics and ratings to match these players are unbelievably accurate. They’ve gone ahead and rebuilt the match simulation engine, further enhancing the game play. Let me warn you, this game is addicting.
Football Films
From fictional creations like Football Factory, I.D., or even the somewhat corny Goal series, to great films based on real events, such as the Damned United, there are a horde of football themed films out there. If fiction doesn’t suit your fancy, there’s always the season review DVD. Who in Manchester doesn’t want to relieve the glorious treble winning season of 1999? Find me a Fulham supporter who isn’t interested in watching the glorious run to the Europa League Final.
Equipment
If the sofa isn’t your favourite place to take in the Beautiful Game, there’s always great equipment to be had. Whether it’s the latest in boots, or that flash third kit, no enthusiast will be upset at receiving something they can use on the pitch. How about home training aids and equipment to improve agility, technique, and skill?
