Gift Ideas for Kids

You’ve received the invite to your niece’s birthday party. Or maybe it’s the son of your best mate. And you have absolutely no idea what holds a child’s interest for longer than ten minutes in 2011. Don’t panic, this is what the internet is for. Children these days play computer games, video games, they watch DVDs, and rather surprisingly, they still like to read books or have books read to them.

In the game category, I’d suggest the Pet Shop games for Nintendo DS. Girls love them because they can personify their little pets and help them become gymnasts, figure skaters, designers, and more.

Horrid Henry and The Purple Hand Gang, Miss Battle-Axe, and Perfect Peter are just some of the colourful characters kids will become familiar with when they start reading the HorridHenry bestselling books. I cannot recommend them enough. Boys as well as girls positively eat them up. They are clever, hilarious, and numerous, so after the kid gets hooked on one, there are plenty more to keep him satisfied. There are even audio books and book/DVD packs that can spare his mum or dad from reading when they have other tasks to concentrate on.

For very young children, the Dora the Explorer DVDs and games are simultaneously entertaining and educational. It teaches basic Spanish words and phrases, as well as some math and music. The little munchkin’s parents will be so thrilled that they just might stop asking you to babysit!

About Tari

I can’t stand crowds, or queues, so most of my shopping is done by flitting around the internet! A bit more dangerous perhaps (I own way too many shoes and beauty products), but so much more efficient.
