Commonly Forgotten Camping Accessories

For your next trip to the mountains or the coast, make sure that you have all of your essential camping accessories ready to go. You do not want to be caught in the tough conditions without the proper camping gear, especially at this time of year. While the basics are pretty straightforward: tent, sleeping bag, cookware, firewood and starters etc. there are going to be a number of things that you might not think of that could come in handy.

For starters, a good tool can save the day. While a Swiss army knife is good and well, I would go for the Leatherman Fuse. The Fuse is a versatile tool with an assortment of great gadgets included. With pliers, screwdrivers, scissors, knives and most importantly bottle openers (both wine and beer), this stainless steel handyman will quickly become your best friend on the trip. Whether you are cracking open a fresh beer, clipping skewers for sausages or setting up camp, the Leatherman will be your weapon of choice.

Staying hydrated and drinking clean water is vital on any camping trip, no matter what the weather looks like. Equip yourself with plenty of water reserves, a camel back for a constant supply of water and a thermos flask for any morning coffee or tea. When you are out hiking around in the blazing sun for a weekend, you will surely battle with dehydration and having a constant supply of water will spare you from any potential dangers that the heat might inflict.

Safety is also key, so having a constant source of light and fire is a must. Not only will a roaring fire keep away any predators that may be after your food, but also those pesky mosquitoes. Whether you go for the natural fire or keep a kerosene lantern on hand, something to keep the bugs away will make for a happy you.

About Ranjit

I grew up playing America Football, Football and Track & Field. American Football and Track have always been my greatest passions and I always aspired to play at the collegiate level. Due to a high grade sarcoma in my right leg, I recently decided to amputate my leg and get back to the active lifestyle that I used to live. After making this choice, I have not looked back as it has opened doors to a number of new opportunities and even some of my old passions.
