Many of the new HDD recorders have large hard drives, blu-ray disk recording drives and the option to record up to two programs simultaneously while still having access to anything on your hard drive. These ground-breaking features take your home entertainment to a new level of luxury. Not only can you store all the video footage imaginable on the massive hard drives that are built into these recorders, but you can copy them directly to a disk for use in another system.
To make those long plane rides, car trips and waiting room stays fly by in a breeze, cheap portable DVD players are the perfect complement to any HDD recorder. While the iPad is taking over as one of the top portable media devices, a portable DVD player is still a viable option when it comes to entertainment on the go. I prefer to stick to a player that has the luxury of a USB port so that I can easily access my external hard drive, but this is not a necessity in any portable DVD player. Burning a couple of films onto blank CDs for those longer trips takes minimal effort, particularly if you have a quality HDD recorder in your home. This way you are also saving yourself the trouble of schlepping along a large external hard drive in your car or carry-on suitcase.
