The cold forcing you indoors doesn’t have to be so dreary. It simply means that you are entitled to splurge on a fantastic TV. For the optimal viewing experience, I don’t recommend that you purchase anything smaller than a 37’’ TV, because it will be too small for the sitting room. We can’t have you squinting at your television from across the room!
Larger TVs, up to a 60 inch TV, are more ideal for family viewing. Anything larger than that needs a good deal of minimum viewing distance and looks a bit ostentatious unless you live in a mansion. In order to avoid going too large, it’s a wise idea to measure the space the TV is meant to be placed. Sounds obvious, but far too many people never think of it.
A great TV that is just the right size is the Samsung LE40650 is part of the “Series 6” line. Samsung is the world’s largest manufacturer of flat-panel TVs and because they have done such extensive LCD research, their products are smart buys. This 40” LCD HDTV costs less than £1000. Its sleek exterior is designed in transparent plastic, which looks like glass to the naked eye. The rear of the TV is made out of light metal instead of plastic, and comes complete with a glossy stand. It also features USB and Ethernet connectors and can receive the Freeview HD service in the UK. Not to mention, the colour reproduction is outstanding.
