The competition between Dell and Apple laptops raves on. While Apple is far and away one of the most popular companies out there, you may be mistaken in buying one of their notebooks. This is not to say that Apple does not have a good product, in fact Apple probably has the best product on the market. However, the real question is what do you plan on doing with your laptop? Unless you are a hardcore gamer or plan on running intricate software, spending thousands on a laptop should be out of the question. You might even consider running with a desktop computer instead.
If you do plan on using your laptop for some slightly more complex programs, then a Macbook or Macbook Pro makes a lot of sense, as do a number of different Dell Laptops. The Macbook series speaks for itself with a strong processor, great instant memory, a large hard drive and a solid graphics card. However, if you want to explore some perfectly capable cheaper options, then Dell will have the answer. The Dell Inspiron 1545 is a great mid-range notebook that has quite a bit of capability. With a large 320 GB hard drive and 3 GB of RAM as well as a sizeable screen and strong processor, it can get the job done for the majority of video games and other programs.
If you are not a gamer, but instead you stick to the basics: iTunes, word processing and internet browsing then you need not look much further than a Mini. At a fraction of the cost and weight of any of the previously mentioned notebooks, a mini is capable of all the basic functions and is easy to carry with you anywhere you go.
